PSN DOWN --Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 -- the PlayStation Network is getting worked on and will be down for maintenance from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST. During this time, you won't be able to get on the PlayStation Store, fool with PlayStation Home and so on. The good news is that because this conflicts with when the PlayStation Store is supposed to be updated, the store will get its weekly dose of content tonight.
No time for this evening's update has been posted so far.

This Week on PSN (09.28.10)
Every Tuesday, Sony drops a bunch of new stuff onto the PlayStation Network. Those with a PlayStation 3 or PSP can download these goodies, which range from PSN games to movies, themes and more. While the Official PlayStation Blog outlines these updates in full each week, we thought we'd help truncate the good news into something more digestible.
First and foremost, there are a couple of new games available for download on the PSN this week. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light can finally be played by PlayStation 3 gamers. It'll run you $14.99. Also, Swords and Soldiers can be downloaded for $9.99. The game has been available to PlayStation Plus subscribers since last week, but now everyone can get in on the game (pardon the pun). It's about time.
There are a slew of new demos on the storefront. Swords and Soldiers, EA Sports MMA, MySims SkyHeroes, Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Heavy Rain (Move-enabled) are all sporting demos this week. New discounts for downloadable games can also be found for Street Fighter Alpha, Brain Challenge (and it's expansion pack), Madden NFL Arcade, and Ace Armstrong vs. The Alien Scumbags. Try the newest kid on the MMA block for yourself.
If you want DLC, there's plenty of that, too. Seek out new DLC for the following games on today's update: Borderlands, ModNation Racers, Mafia II, Naughty Bear, Blazblue: Continuum Shift, Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue, My Aquarium, Guitar Hero 5 and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
PSP gamers can now download Rapala Pro Bass Fishing for $19.99. The once-closed demo for God of War: Ghost of Sparta is now available for everybody, and another new demo for Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team has also been posted. In addition, there's PSP-centric DLC for Gladiator Begins, Valkyria Chronicles 2 and LittleBigPlanet on PlayStation Network this week.

This Week on PSN (10.05.10)
Every Tuesday, Sony drops a bunch of new stuff onto the PlayStation Network. Those with a PlayStation 3 or PSP can download this new goodness, which ranges from PSN games to movies, themes and more. While the Official PlayStation Blog outlines these updates in full each week, we thought we'd help truncate the good news into something more digestible.
PSN GAMES Two new games have been released on the PlayStation Network this week. Deadliest Warrior: The Game, which came out on Xbox Live not too long ago, can now be downloaded by PlayStation 3 gamers for $9.99. Additionally, the robust sci-fi shooter Alien Breed: Impact can be purchased for $14.99.
DEMOS AND ADD ONS If you're interested in trying out a few games before purchasing them, there are four new demos up on the PlayStation Store as well. Trials and demos for Topatoi, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Deadliest Warrior: The Game and Alien Breed: Impact are available.
There are a few discounts on the Store this week that are worth noting, as well. Rayman is on sale, as well as the popular PlayStation Mini Tetris. In addition, there are four Modern Warfare 2 map packs on sale, so if you haven't purchased the Resurgence Package, the Stimulus Package, or others, now may be the time to do so.
What about DLC? Well there's plenty of that available for download this week, too. Browse the store to find new DLC for the following games: EyePet, Buzz!, Sports Champions, Rock Band, and Clash of the Titans.
On the PSP front, there's only a single new retail game – Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction. However, there are five new PlayStation Minis to mess around with, ranging in price from $2.99-$4.99. They are: Fort Commander: King's Gambit, Urbanix, Apache: Overkill, Actual Crimes: Jack the Ripper, and Shapo. And as has been the case the last few weeks, there's plenty of new Gladiator Begins DLC as well. And better yet, it's all free.

This Week on PSN (10.12.10)
Every Tuesday, Sony drops a bunch of new stuff onto the PlayStation Network. Those with a PlayStation 3 or PSP can download this new goodness, which ranges from PSN games to movies, themes and more. While the Official PlayStation Blog outlines these updates in full each week, we thought we'd help truncate the good news into something more digestible.
PSN GAMES
This is pretty good week of updates on the PlayStation Store. For starters, there are two new PSN games that can be downloaded. Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode I is now available for all of the old-school SEGA fans out there. You'll have to drop $14.99 for the game, however. Additionally, the story-advancing puzzle title Dead Space Ignition can be purchased this week for $9.99. Do keep in mind that if you intend on pre-ordering Dead Space 2 for PlayStation 3, that you'll get a voucher to download this for free. So holster your wallet in that case. Completing Dead Space Ignition will unlock an exclusive suit for Isaac in Dead Space 2, however, so it's a game that Dead Space fans will likely want to play, one way or the other.
Are you a fan of PlayStation RPGs? Well, who isn't? If you happen to be a fan of the robust catalog of PSone RPGs, then you'll be happy to know that two of them are coming to the PlayStation Store this week. For $5.99 each, gamers can download both Arc the Lad and Alundra. We certainly can't complain about a lackluster PSone offering this week!
DEMOS AND ADD ONS
A bunch of games and DLC already on PSN are now experiencing both temporary and permanent sales. Games and DLC that will receive a price drop this include (for both PS3 and PSP): Resident Evil 5: Untold Stories Bundle, Blue Toad Murder Files Episodes 4-6, Fighting Force, Astrotripper, Ultimate Ghosts N' Goblins, Section 8, Fate Unlimited and Power Stone Collection Legacy.
What about the demos? Well, there's only three of them this week, but they will no doubt intrigue many of you. You can now download completely free demos not only for the aforementioned Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I and Dead Space Ignition, but you can also download a demo for the much anticipated sequel, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II as well.
In terms of DLC, there's quite a bit of it this week. If you're looking for new DLC for the following games, then you're in luck. Def Jam Rapstar, Red Dead Redemption, Tom Clancy's HAWX 2, PAIN, ModNation Racers, Dead Rising 2, Moto GP 09/10, Disney Sing It, Split/Second, and Rock Band all have new DLC for you.
PSP
If you're a PSP gamer, there's new content this week for you, too. NBA 2k11 can be purchased for $19.99, and FIFA Soccer 11 can be purchased for $39.99. There's one new PlayStation Mini to acquire: Zenonia for $6.99. In terms of DLC, only LittleBigPlanet has new content for you this week.

This Week on the PSN (12.21.10)
Every Tuesday, Sony drops a bunch of new stuff onto the PlayStation Network. Those with a PlayStation 3 or PSP can download this new goodness, which ranges from PSN games to movies, themes and more. While the Official PlayStation Blog outlines these updates in full each week, we thought we'd help truncate the good news into something more digestible.
PLAYSTATION PLUS Were you expecting Sony to give you mere crumbs during this week, the week before Christmas? Well, you thought wrong. Today's update is one of the biggest single updates in recent memory, with more new games, discounts, demos and DLC than you'll know what to do with. But let's start with what's new for PlayStation Plus members this week. Those with a PlayStation Plus subscription can download an all-new PlayStation Mini – one we gave a 9.0 to -- for free. A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! is its name, and you should seek it out free of charge if you're able to. PlayStation Plus members will also receive a free full-game trial for the FPS-meets-RPG Borderlands and a slew of discounts on a bunch of games, mostly in the realm of the Neo-Geo titles gracing the PSN this week, discussed below.
PSN GAMES Would you believe me if I told you there are 22 new games on the PlayStation Network this week? That's right -- 22. And that's in addition to MAG and Borderlands, which are retail games that can now be purchased off of the PlayStation Network for $29.99 each. Ten of the 22 games are classic Neo-Geo titles. You can download each of them for $8.99, though that price will be kicked down to $7.19 if you're a PlayStation Plus member. These new Neo-Geo games include: Alpha Mission II, Art of Fighting, Baseball Stars Professional, Fatal Fury, League Bowling, Magician Lord, Metal Slug, Samurai Showdown, Super Sidekicks, and The King of Fighters '94.
In terms of new standard PSN games, there are plenty of those, too. Risk: Factions has successfully made the jump over to the PSN and can be purchased for $9.99. Blokus, already available in some form for the PSP, can be purchased for play on the PS3 for $4.99. Five episodes of Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People are also now available. All five games can be bundled and purchased with a season pass for $14.99. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, an HD upgrade of the fairly-recent retail title, can be downloaded for $14.99. Echochrome II, the sequel to the strange-but-enjoyable Echochrome, can be yours for $14.99. The destruction-oriented game Eat Them! can be yours for $9.99, the same price as the Move-enabled Top Darts. And then there's Buzz! Quiz Player, which is free for all PlayStation Network users. People have been clamoring for more love from Square-Enix on the PSone Classics front. And it seems they've been listening, since the classic strategy-RPG Front Mission 3 is now available for $5.99.
DEMO'S AND DLC There are plenty of new demos to go along with that as well. The biggest three of the bunch are no doubt the demos for Mass Effect 2, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Dead Space 2. But in addition to that, you can also cop demos for Beat Sketcher, as well as for the aforementioned Risk: Factions, Blokus, and Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People.
Those looking for DLC will have plenty of that available to them, as well. Look for new DLC for Splatterhouse, Costume Quest, R.U.S.E., The Fight: Lights Out, ModNation Racers, LittleBigPlanet, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011, DJ Hero 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, The Sims 3, Def Jam Rapstar, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, and Rock Band 3.

Sony: PSN Back Online Next Week
Sony has confirmed that it hopes to restore some fuctionality to the PSN service by next Tuesday in a new statement on the PlayStation Blog.
"Our employees have been working day and night to restore operations as quickly as possible, and we expect to have some services up and running within a week from yesterday. However, we want to be very clear that we will only restore operations when we are confident that the network is secure."
Dated April 27, the update posted by Patrick Seybold (Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media), would put the estimated return date for PSN services as May 3, meaning that the service will have been offline for two weeks.
Although which services will be coming back online next week is unclear, Sony has stated they are working on new security measures for the future, as well as seeking out those responsible for the breach, confirming they "are working closely with a recognised technology security firm in order to find those responsible for this criminal act, no matter where in the world they might be located."
please post any news about the psn here

How Should Sony Reward PSN Users?
Think you deserve something for having to do all this waiting while PlayStation Network goes back online? A new Question & Answer posted on the PlayStation Blog seems to indicate users will get something for their troubles. Sony isn't saying what that will be exactly just yet.
"We are currently evaluating ways to show appreciation for your extraordinary patience as we work to get these services back online," the company says.
Sony also says any trophies earned in single-player offline games during the outage can be re-synched once the service is operational and that users' download history/friends list/settings will be unaffected. PlayStation+ cloud saves will also be retrievable.
What do you think Sony should do to reward its users? Vote in the poll and sound off in the comments below.
