| I wouldn't waste time learning specifics of C++
If you're prepping this for school, just learn the concepts like OOP, algorithm designs (ex diff types of sorting algorithms), data structures, etc. Any programming languages (with maybe the except of scheme which you might learn in school) work off the same concepts, just different syntax
The only thing special with C++ is you gotta do memory management yourself whereas java has garbage collection to do all that for u

I also don't have the muney for Univeristy, its 15 000 per year at Dal, its 2600 per year at NBCC

| Sucks for Nightmare because good programming schools like U of Waterloo are just too expensive not being in Ontario. Although the Co-Op program helps significantly in getting money for school.
Rizzo did you take Comp Sci? ...that was my major, yet not really what I do for a career.

| I minored in CS. major was C&O
I don't think my major has any actual jobs directly related to it, but it just impresses interviewers who're also from waterloo and go "whoa c&o? ur hardcore"

| nightmare did u apply for waterloo? like areksoo said, co-op pays for ur tuition so you don't really need major bank to go there. The highest I ever got from co-op was $750 / week which paid for my tuition + rent and stuff | |

| yeah my advice is really try to go for a 4-yr bachelors degree
honestly when you apply to jobs, there's hundreds of others applying to the same job as u. the 1st thing ppl filter out is the education cuz they just don't have the time to go through every applicant's job experience

| Combinatorics and Optimization. Most people don't even know what that means! You are a super nerd!
I did Comp Sci (UofW too!).... but my job role is in Statistical Data Modeling (Marketing). Ideally, I should go back to school and get at least a masters in stats or MBA, but too lazy.
The only programming I do now a days are queries in SAS.
